Update on the update. And Anne Spollen

My friend is fine. Her parents spoke to her. Both her home and business are intact and she is providing food her workers who lost their homes.

Big sigh of relief and time to move onto more writerly things.

I have a big treat on the way. I am going to be posting an interview with the author Anne Spollen. Her book THE SHAPE OF WATER is a lyrical masterpiece.

So stay tuned.

And keep Haiti and Lil in your thoughts.

  3. Thanks, folks. Can't wait to interview Anne. Her writing is beyond awesome. It gives me chills. Sometimes I just have to stop and read a phrase over, like savoring a fine wine.

  5. That's great news. A New Zealand UN worker lost her husband and two of her daughters in the earthquake. The third daughter was found alive in the rubble.

  6. Thanks, Tricia. Niki, that's truly sad. So many tragedies.

  7. Will do. I think much of the world is shaken by Haiti's misfortune. When a part of the world falls, somehow the rest of us fall with it.

  9. I'm so glad to hear that your friend is okay. It's hard to focus on much of anything right now so it helps to hear the good news. Did you happen to catch Meryl Streep's speech last night at the Golden Globes? She said how thankful she is to be in a position to help. I loved that. No matter how big or small we all give, every little bit helps!

I will be on the lookout for that interview!

  11. This post is a VERY welcome needle in the Internet haystack. Lil and I were college classmates, and although we lost touch, I knew via a mutual friend that she had moved to Haiti. I've been wondering all week how she fared in this tragedy, and I'm delighted to hear that she survived and is able to help those around her. Please give her my warmest regards when you're in touch with her again.

  12. Wow..so glad you found this, Faith. Hopefully Lil will find her way to this blog when things settle down and she'll see how many people are thinking about her.

  13. Blame it on my ability to be extraordinarily persistent when I set my mind to a Google search! I just finished sending an e-mail to the mutual friend, who will hopefully spread the good news.
